Membership Meetings and Demonstrations
PSWC holds quarterly General Membership Meetings in March, June, September and December. Each meeting includes brief announcements and event reminders, and is followed by a demonstration and Q&A session with an esteemed artist. Additional demonstration sessions are occasionally added, without the preceding General Meeting. Meetings scheduled for 2024 are: March 10, June 9, September 8, and December 8. Each is the second Sunday of the month and the meetings start at 10:00am Pacific Time.

Otto Stürcke was born in 1971 and grew up in Southern California. Primarily self-taught, Stürcke joined the U.S. Marine Corps in hopes of attaining financial aid to attend an art college. His plans were momentarily altered in 1991 when he was called to serve in Desert Storm. Soon after his military service, Stürcke enrolled in art workshops and courses at several local art associations and colleges while launching his illustration career under the mentorship of Mike Butkus. Working as an illustrator served Stürcke for honing many techniques and found pastels to be his principal medium of choice. Stürcke has garnered recognition and several awards for his works. These include, Master Circle Status with the International Association of Pastel Societies, Master Pastelist title and the Art Spirit Foundation Dianne B. Bernhard Gold Medal Award by the Pastel Society of America, and many others. He was awarded Best In Show in the inaugural ART 2021 Tehachapi exhibition.
