Upcoming California Central Coast Event with Bobbye Thompson

Our next paint out on California’s Central Coast, will be at Montana D’
Oro State Park, Saturday, April 20.   There are expansive views of the
ocean, bluffs, seashore, tons of wildflowers and natural vegetation.
(See photos)  We will meet at the old Ranch House (now, Museum) at the
large parking area adjacent to the building. Painters are welcome to set
up anywhere in the park including the beach (Spooner’s Cove) or along
the bluff top across from the museum.  We’ll meet at 9:00 and paint till
about noon.  Hopefully, many of you will stay for a critique, after, and
share your work. This is especially helpful to new plein air painters.
All mediums are welcome and PSWC membership is not required.  Come join
us for a morning of painting and sharing.  There is ample parking and
restrooms are available.

Recent Event in Santa Barbara County, with Carol Talley

Our newest representative, Carol Talley is inviting members and guests in the Santa Barbara County area to join a PSWC paint out at Stow House and Lake Los Carneros in Goleta on Saturday, March 9 from 1-4pm. She’s looking forward to getting to know our members in the region.

Here is a link to a map and a little about the park, https://goletahistory.org. Lake Los Carneros is adjacent to Stow House. This is a favorite plein air painting spot for many artists.

There is a parking lot near the Stow House, and there are bathrooms.

Here are a few photos of the park.

Recent San Francisco Bay Area Event with Jan Prisco

Here is a pic from the Sf peninsula paint-out organized by Jan Prisco in November. There were five painters at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica! Jan is the Regional Representative for the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula to Big Sur region.

Recent Field Trip and Open Studio with Idaho/Montana/Wyoming Regional Rep Cindy Gillett

The Impressionists Immersive opened in Boise, Idaho at the Discovery Center during the fall of 2023. This immersive arrived in Boise from Spain. Throughout the fall and winter months, many of our PSWC members attended the exhibition to marvel at the floor to ceiling display of over 1,000 masterworks by artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, and more.  Each artist found the synchronized projection, music and audio narrative simply captivating.

January 2024 Open Studio:

During the month of January many of our members participate in one art challenge or another (Extreme Plein Air and the Strada Easel Challenge to name a couple). Regional Rep Cindy Gillett opened her studio in Meridian, ID each Saturday in January to encourage other PSWC members to come and visit with no real agenda in mind other than to talk shop, share tips, watch a demo, share excess supplies and of course paint!  Not one to tackle plein air painting during the winter months in Idaho, Cindy said it ended up being a really fun month!  Especially because each weekend was different, never really knowing who would come knocking on her door.
